if you don't know what you want

For those of you not familiar with the scientific method, it is as follows:
1. Define the question
2. Gather information and resources
3. Form hypothesis
4. Perform experiment and collect data
5. Analyze data
6. Interpret data and draw conclusions that serve as a starting point for new hypotheses
7. Publish results

In the argument of Intelligent Design (ID) in this instance, the case is made that they're trying to leave room for ID as a scientific alternative to Evolution. I, personally, can't find any science in Intelligent Design, nor was I able to find any in the speaker's debate. What he requested is that it be left open to challenge the theory of Evolution. Why? Why should Intelligent Design be introduced into the school system to challenge Evolution? So far as I can see, it is based on no scientific reasoning. It is not a scientific theory. It is a belief-system. If the argument were made that it should be introduced into a World Religions class or a Philosophy class, I would be more likely to agree. As it stands, Intelligent Design has no place being taught in science classrooms. I would like to get somewhat of a debate going on various aspects of science vs. religion in future entries, but for now, I'm curious as to what your opinions are on this subject and why.

My Autobiography
booktard
"When I visit you and the moon
Isn't around to show me the way,
Comets of longing set my heart
So much ablaze, the earth is lit
By the holocaust under my ribs."
--Abbas Ibn Al-Ahnaf

Our hearts and minds exist in symbiosis. Sometimes we live in a world where imagination runs rampant through the streets. It tramples cars and uproots trees. Others we become so tethered by heartache and failure that the pressure collapses our lungs. Beautiful things can be painful. Painful things can be beautiful. It's a delicate ballet. It's raining outside. I can look out the window and see rainbands hanging down from the clouds like tentacles dangling below sea level. Whatever's left of the dusk sky is saturated with the chemical orange of the sunset and explosions of fuscia and cobalt - fireworks that look like wilting flowers that will burn the skyline until sunrise.
